Director of Art Education

Hayley brings a diverse educational background and a wealth of experience to Summit Academy. She has been a licensed and practicing educator for over fourteen years, and has taught in Nova Scotia, South Korea, and China. She holds four university degrees: a Master of Education from Memorial University of Newfoundland, a Bachelor of Education from Mount Saint Vincent University, a Bachelor of Arts (technical theatre) from Dalhousie University, and a Bachelor of Arts (psychology) from Saint Mary’s University. In addition to having her Master’s research on the importance of imaginative play and creativity in education recently published, Hayley has also given online presentations to education students at Memorial University of Newfoundland, led creativity workshops, and worked in children’s theatre.

Hayley has always enjoyed exploring a variety of visual arts, artists, and methods and welcomes the enthusiasm young learners bring to the classroom. Combining emotional expression with artistic techniques and creative appreciation is something she values deeply, as art and creativity are interwoven across not only all subject areas, but also throughout life. Hayley is excited to continue fostering open-mindedness and imagination, and to inspire Summit Academy students.
