Lauren grew up in Calgary, Alberta before venturing out East to St. Francis Xavier University for her Bachelor of Arts, in psychology followed by a Bachelor of Education. Lauren has trained with the Institute of Social Emotional Education out of Montreal in both Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and Non-Violent Communication (NVC). This has led her to be a representative for the Institute and to present conferences on Social Emotional Learning for pre-service teachers.
In the classroom Lauren has an energetic, supportive and creative approach to teaching. She believes in child-led learning and the importance of communication and connection in the classroom. In order for her students to learn to the fullest, she believes that knowing her students in a must. Lauren believe in the power of emotional literacy to help her students become self-aware, self-regulated and life long learners. She is looking forward to fostering connections within the Summit community.
