Affectionately referred to as “Mista P” by Summit students, Neven has designed and executed a curriculum that is contemporary, physical, well-rounded and fun with a strong performance component. His teaching philosophy centers around the premise that people are fundamentally musical and that everyone can engage with music whether it be through performance, theory, improvisation, history, and more. He combines these components into a diverse educational experience supplemented by fun performance opportunities such as Pop Up Pop Songs, Holiday and Year End Concerts, and the much anticipated Summit Rap Battle.
Neven holds degrees and certificates from the University of Toronto and Dalhousie University, and is a member of the Nova Scotia Registered Music Teacher’s Association. He is a faculty member at the Maritime Conservatory of Performing Arts as well as the co-manager of the Scotia Festival of Music and the Peggy Corkum Music Room.
