Our school runs on volunteers – we couldn't do it without you!
At Summit Academy, we fully appreciate our volunteers. As we grow, we rely on volunteers to be able to deliver all of the fantastic 'extras' that make our environment unique and special. When you volunteer you make a difference in the lives of our students by providing enriched learning experiences and helping students get the most out of their Summit Academy education.
Volunteers perform many different tasks at Summit, including but not limited to:
- Fundraising
- Field Trips
- Special Events
- Classroom Support
- Hot Lunch Program
- Drives to School Trips
- Reading Programs
- Playground Supervision
- Staff Projects
- School Beautification
- Tutoring
- Communications (telephone committees, newsletters, flyers)
- Chaperoning
- Summit Skill Sessions Instructors/Assistants
We have a responsibility to ensure that all students attending Summit Academy are protected and safe while in our care. We do that by taking reasonable precautions to screen volunteers who may be working with students in any capacity with our school. Prior to volunteering with Summit Academy, all volunteers must provide a hard copy of:
- A completed Child Abuse Register Check
- A certified and true copy of a Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Check from local Police, RCMP or through online organizations endorsed by Nova Scotia law enforcement agencies
